This very common large and showy butterfly flies most of the year. It is known by its bright yellow with black stripes, but also females may be seen as very dark. Many times you may find a group of them gathering at a muddy area, but for the most part they are seen gliding along streams or in forests.

Caterpillars of the tiger will feed on the leaves of various trees and shrubs.
